Safe Exodus?
We’re asked during our Passover Seder to remember that we were slaves in Egypt. As a people we embarked on a long and dangerous Exodus to safety and freedom. This Pesach we ask you to think about all those who today must embark on their own personal exodus to escape persecution and conflict. Include this one page supplement in your Seder to find out and discuss how safe the Exodus really was and what do the journeys of today’s refugees look like?

This Pesach we ask you to put a key on your Seder plate and explain to people why you are doing this. Get involved and take a small step to help raise awareness of the plight of all those in indefinite detention and tell people around your Passover table that it is time for a time limit.

This Passover, Take A Stand for Refugees
As we celebrate the Jewish people’s biblical exodus from Egypt, we remember that there are 60 million displaced people around the world, people fleeing violence and persecution in search of a safe place to call home. We are currently in the midst of the worst refugee crisis since World War II.
At the Passover Seder, we drink four cups of to remember the four expressions of God’s redemption of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. We also pour but do not drink a fifth cup of win, Elijah’s cup, to symbolise that, though we were freed from slavery, redemption is not complete so long as others are still enslaved.
